The 25th 2009 Southeast Asian Games will be held on Vientiane, Laos this 2009. This is the first time will held in Laos. It will commemorate for 50 years of the SEA Games. The contenders for the top three sports in this SEAG are Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Indonesia the strongest traditional powerhouse country, Malaysia SEAG over-all champion for 2001 and 2nd, in the 2007 SEAG, Philippines the 3rd strongest traditional powerhouse country how got over all champion for 2005. Thailand 2nd strongest traditional powerhouse country replacing Indonesia for the strongest powerhouse country on 2001, 2003, and 2005. Vietnam over all champions 2003 and the newest powerhouse country in SEA Games.
